The Kingdom
Kerry Gaels amalgamated in 1998 with the first election
of officers in January 1999.
|
The Kingdom
were in exhistence since the '60s. They were one of
the most successfull clubs in the history of the London
GAA, winning at one stage 6 London County Championship
Football titles, including an amazing 6 in a
row and 3 in a row. They hold to their fame 8
Provincial titles and 2 All-Ireland 7-a-side Championships.
They are the only club in England to win two Irish Champonships
on Irish Soil.
The Kerry Gaels were initially formed to encourage players
to partake in our native sport. They too were extremely
successfull in winning various titles in age groups
such as u/12's, u/14's, u/16's and minors. Their
Junior, Intermediate and Senior Team brought glory to
their club and the Seniors won 2London League Football
titles.
However owing to the boom of the Celtic Tiger both clubs
soon found that many of their players returned to their
native counties. Many meetings and discussions were
held and it was decided that the best way forward was
to amalgamate and form a much stronger position in the
London GAA scene.
Our successes with the Kindom Kerry Gaels since the
formation include:
The Great Britain 7-a-aside and The Cannon Stritch
Cup were gloriously achieved by our Senior Team, while
our Minors have attained The London League Football
final for '98 and '99, and we are awaiting the infamous
3 in a row. One of the highlights since the amalgamation
of our clubs was the visit of our Minor and Senior teams
to Kerry at Easter 1999 were our Seniors had an historic
win over the Laune Rangers. Our Minor team returned
to London having successfully beaten the famous Gneevguilla
Club. |
